i'm eric kalenze, and gawker slowdown is my home-based musical outlet. though i fronted and wrote songs for late-90s twin cities power-poppers third wheel, gawker slowdown features a quieter musical approach. the focus here is much more on melody and lyrical honesty, with obvious nods to country and the songcraft of artists like freedy johnston, joe pernice, elliott smith, and neil finn. though most of the songs i've recorded feature full-band arrangements, performances are simple, one guy-one guitar affairs.
