Pushin Daisies
$13.99

Featuring the unique vocals of Sheila Oliver (sometimes conjuring the ghost of the Carter sisters, other times she's the soul sister of Jill Sobule) and the original guitar style and vocal of Jerry Oliver (think Robert Johnson mixed with a little Willie Nelson), Pushin' Daisies is all about the song.
Jerry and Sheila began performing as Pushin' Daisies in the fall of 1998 and quickly produced a 4-track demo in their humble basement studio. A track from their self-released demo Six Petal Push was selected to appear on the alternative weekly newspaper Pulse Of The Twin Cities' CD - Minnesota Homegrown - a showcase of the best singer/songwriters of 1999.

In February 2000 Pushin' Daisies independently released their self-titled debut cd. In June 2002 Pushin' Daisies signed a distribution deal with Narnian/Coldwind records to release their second full length cd Busy Feelin' Bad.

Highlights of the last couple years include opening for national acts The Vigilantes of Love and Bloodshot recording artist Robbie Fulks, the Fall But Not Falling Down Tour to the west coast , sharing bills with Peter Ostrouchko, Paul Zunno (lead guitarist for Wilson Pickett) and legendary bluesman Dave Ray. Pushin' Daisies have also firmly established themselves in the midwest, regularly returning to Duluth, Fargo, Iowa City, Des Moines, Milwaukee and Chicago as well consistently playing many of the Twin Cities finest venues.

Sheila's background consists of theatrical experience as well as fronting previous rock and country bands. Jerry is a full-time guitar instructor who has played in bands since Jr. High. In recent years Jerry has played bass for the Cherokee Rose Band and has been the front man, songwriter and guitarist for the modern rock band Peculiar Red - whose CD Dance For The Little Man received considerable airplay on college rock radio in the spring of 1997. Jerry has also recently released his first solo CD, Hide Your Bombs. Jerry and Sheila are both recipients of ASCAP Specialty Awards for their songwriting accomplishments.
