Synthetic Almighty

Synthetic Almighty began life as the band known as Malakai. Founded in 2001 by Chris Menning (vocals), Mike Thometz (guitar), Nick Spychala (guitar), and Tylor May (drums). The band began writing some tunes and gaining some valuable stage experience. Approximately a year later, Chris Menning leaves Malakai due to other obligations, which lead to addition of Jason Sens to fill his shoes. Shorty after the band also recruited Josh Nelson, a experienced bass player well-versed in the Minnesota metal scene. Once again the boys started writing some new music, this time end result had a harder edge. A demo was cut and the band started to play some more shows. Unfortunately, as their fan base was beginning to grow matters out of the bands control forced them to call it quits and put Malakai to rest...

That is until the summer of '05. With a stroke of luck and a driving desire to bang out some more metal Jason, Mike, Nick, and Tylor decide to resurrect Malakai. With the absence of the bottom end, a search ensues and soon after Aaron Lott of Enshrined joins the fold. The guys began by jamming out old songs to find their chemistry again and soon after started writing some more new music. The new songs were found to have a darker, more mature feel and the decision was made to drop the name Malakai and to focus on the new sound, thus Synthetic Almighty is born. Unafraid to experiment and to do whatever the f*** they want, the new songs represent a wealth of styles and can not be easily shoved into a particular genre. Although, one thing is certain, it's unquestionably ass-stomping metal!
