Carnage

Terrell Woods a.k.a. Carnage The Executioner, is widely recognized for his mind-numbing lyrical dexterity, boundless energy and breath control on stage, and uncanny ability to compose musical symphonies with his mouth through beat boxing. His aptitude for forming a bond with just about any musician both artistically and personally has enabled his steady rise and current success. Carnage's unwavering work ethic and kind heart have earned him the respect of many of Independent and commercial music's most reputable artists.

Among the many different epithets utilized to describe his expertise in oration and undeniable stage presence, Carnage is often referred to as 'the hardest working emcee without a record deal', 'everybody's favorite rapper', and 'the show stealer'. Years of performing both locally, nationally and practice honing his craft have indeed proven beneficial in his quest to not be 'just another average battle rapper', a phrase he personally rebukes and refuses to be labeled as. When asked to define his 'style', Carnage is often quoted rattling of the description, 'Immorally hand-woven catastrophe tapestry orally attached to beats'. This single-sentence description is fitting when considering how he rattles off intricate, multi-syllabic patterns of rough, edgy and controversial content at a rate that make most people say, 'How do you remember all that and say it so fast?'. This is a question that Carnage is used to being asked. Unlike most Independent emcees who travel the path of organized battles to earn themselves a 'name', Carnage has simply made a respectable name for himself through the display of raw talent.

Carnage is not only a noteworthy musician, but he is also a hero. He has been through every kind of earthly hell conceivable, yet he remains undeterred. He lived with his mother for most of his early childhood life but she lost custody of him when he was 12 years old. He was physically abused and saw his mother's boyfriend physically abuse her, I saw her turn to alcohol, then drugs. Carnage bounced around back and forth between shelters, group homes and foster homes for over three years, and was even abused in many of them. Today, he is a social worker/youth counselor in Minneapolis, and a better role model would prove near impossible to find. Despite his traumatic past, Carnage graduated from Hamline University, where he received a degree in Psychology.

Some of Carnage's accolades include: 'One of the top 5 rappers in MN'-Star Tribune; 'Emcee to keep your eyes on'-The Minneapolis City Pages; Carnage's release, The Carnology Vol. 0.5 EP was nominated 'One of the Top 10 Albums That Matter In The Past 2 Years'-Star Tribune; Nominated for a Minnesota Music Award for 'Best Hip Hop Artist/Group' in 2006 for his work with female Hip Hop/Spoken Word Artsist, Desdamona, in which the two go by the name of Ill Chemistry.

Carnage has recorded with Eyedea & Abilitities & Atmosphere of Rhymesayers Entertainment. In addition to his work with Desdamona, he collaborates with the unstoppable Rock powerhouse, Bill Mike Band, to create an interesting Hip Hop/Rock fusion incomparable to anything heard before it. As if he is not already busy enough, he runs a record label called Hecatomb comprised of up-and-coming local Hip Hop, R&B & Rock artists. Carnage has accompanied Eyedea and Abilities on tour three times. Carnage has also shared stages with Atmosphere & Brother Ali of Rhymesayers Ent., Sage Francis, El-P & Aesop Rock of Definitive Jux, Devin The Dude (Rap-A-Lot Records) & Sadat X (Brand Nubian) as well as many more. He has appeared on over 25 releases with many more to come!
