Zacc Harris performs with modern jazz group Atlantis Quartet, organ jazz trio CounterClockWise, funk group Vital Organ, world music trio Tico Tico, the Zacc Harris Trio, R&B artist John Starkey, and as a freelance musician with several other jazz artists. Harris moved to the Twin Cities in August 2005 after performing for the previous eight years with a variety of groups in Carbondale, IL, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Among these was the modern jazz group Caravan, which Harris founded and led for five years, and the midwest's longest running traditional jazz ensemble, Mercy, which has been training ground for many great players during its 33 year tenure, including Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones (who also toured with Miles).

While Harris was performing as a nearly full-time jazz musician, he was fortunate to join the newgrass/jamgrass outfit named Broken Grass. The group broke boundaries by fusing bluegrass with jazz and rock in new ways, and toured over twenty states in its three years on the road. With the breakup of Broken Grass, Harris turned his attention to two short-lived but popular new projects; the G-String Hypothesis, which further explored the possibilities of newgrass/jazz fusion, and the Mothership Funk Orchestra, an 8-piece band which performed all original funk compositions by Harris.

Since moving to the Twin Cities, Zacc Harris has been a prolific instructor of music, teaching privately at Matt's Pro Guitar in St. Paul, his home studio in south MPLS, Schmitt Music in Edina, and classes at the University of Minnesota given through Coffman Hall. For info, call 612.723.8211.
